Answer 1/1 - Submitted 7/2/2011
You can change the pads using either a jack or from a lift in the shop. First, loosen the hubcaps if there are caps on the wheels. Then loose the lug nuts from the wheel you plan to change brake pads on. Don't do more than two wheels at a time.
Make sure to put wheel chocks behind the wheels on the ground and and work on stable level surface. Lift the vehicle using a manual pump or a lift. If using a manual pump, you should also use jack stands to keep the frame of the car lifted safely.
Remove the tire and you will see the housing holding the brake pads. Remove the two bolts holding the pads and replace them with new ones. Do the procedure in reverse. Also inspect the drums and rotors when changing new pads.
